Macoupin County Historical Society

The Macoupin County Historical Society in Carlinville has several events coming up in Nov. which are open to the public and free to attend.

The first event is the annual Blacksmiths “Hammer-In” which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. till 12 noon at the Blacksmith Shop on the Historical grounds.

The presenter this year is Craig Camerer, Season Two winner of "Forged in Fire." This will be an opportunity to watch blacksmiths and learn some blacksmithing techniques.

The second event is Monday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Ruyle Building, and the monthly program is “Memories.” A video will be shown about the moving of the Rafferty School to the Historical Society grounds in 1994 which took many volunteers to complete the move.

After the video, members and guests are invited to share their memories of the early days of the Society’s years.
