During Monday night’s city council meeting, the city council agreed to pay an Invoice to Southwestern Illinois College for Police Academy Training for newly hired police officers, Austin Brown and Leonard Rankin for $13,480.
In Correspondence, the city received a letter from the Staunton Chamber of Commerce outlining all of the upcoming activities for the “Lighting of Duda Garden” on Nov. 25 and the list of events for the Holiday Walk Weekend in Dec..
In the Treasurer’s Report, City Treasurer Cindy Pirok announced that the annual Treasurer’s Report for the city has been completed for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2023. The city council voted to accept the Treasurer’s Report.
The treasurer also stated that the Certificates of Deposit have recently matured at Bank of Springfield are as follows:
Band Fund - $15,000 plus $460.43 interest.
Depreciation Fund - $75,000 plus $2,302.13 interest
General Fund - $150,000 plus $4,604.26 interest.
In the City Clerk’s Report, City Clerk Dennis Stiegemeier announced that the City Clerk’s Office will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10 in observance of the Veteran’s Day Holiday. All public works employees, except for one water plant employee will be off that day as well. All agenda items for the Nov. 13 meeting are due by Thursday, Nov. 9.
The city clerk also gave a reminder that Trick or Treat days and hours are Oct. 30 and 31 from dusk to 9 p.m. The Lions Club Halloween Parade will also be held on Oct. 30 at 6 p.m.., weather permitting. The Lions Club had decided to not have a rain date for the parade this year.
In Park and Civic Improvement, the city council voted to pay an Invoice to Midwest Turf Management for turf maintenance at the soccer fields and baseball fields for $1,830.
The city council also agreed to pay Investor Invoice for the Macoupin County CEO Program for $1,000.
In Finance and Claims, the city council voted to pay an Invoice to Fehr Graham for services rendered regarding the 2023 OSLAD Grant Application for $2,100.
The city council also agreed to pay Invoice to Fehr Graham for services rendered regarding the 2023 OSLAD Grant Application for $1,400.
The city council approved the 2022-2023 Annual Financial Audit for the city of Staunton completed by C.J. Schlosser & Company, LLC.
Those present for the meeting were Mayor Craig Neuhaus, City Clerk Dennis Stiegemeier, City Treasurer Cindy Pirok, Police Chief Jeff Doerr, Public Works Director Mike Kuethe, Aldermen Ryan Machota, David Manning, David Dias, Terry Tipler, Kristy Berg, and Matthew McKee. City Attorney Phil Lading was absent.
The next city council meeting will be on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023 at 7 p.m.
