The Staunton FFA chapter competed in the Section 15 Agronomy career development event at Highland High School on Oct. 4. In the Agronomy CDE members complete various practicums that tests their knowledge of various agronomy concepts including: crop seed identification, equipment identification, and insect identification; as well as take a general knowledge test. Members also evaluated samples of corn and corn silage. This year, 14 Staunton FFA members competed. The discovery team, consisting of 6th -8th grade students placed 3rd with Ethan Kruse placing 3rd individually and Katie Davin placing 4th. The greenhand team, consisting of freshmen, took first place in their division; Madeyln Davin placed first and Raven Stipcak placed third. The varsity team, students 10th-12th grades, placed third with Molly McCalla placing third individually and Paige Horstmeyer placing seventh. Congratulations to all who competed.
