SHS Seniors take and leave the field as a 'Band of Bulldogs' one last final time

The Staunton/BH Bulldogs lost their final game of the season Friday, Oct. 20, when Pana came to Staunton and outscored the Bulldogs 19 - 13.

The Bulldogs first TD came in the 1st quarter when Dalton Bianco completed a pass to Johnnie Vercoglio good for 20 yards and a Bulldog TD. Legendre successfully kicked the PAT and at the end of the first quarter, Staunton led 7-6. But Pana would add another 7 points in the second quarter to hold the 13 - 7 half-time lead.

The Bulldogs scored another TD in the third period when Bianco completed a pass to Brendan Buffington good for 27 yards and a TD. The PAT failed and that ended the scoring for Staunton. Pana added a TD in the 4th quarter to take the final 19-13 win.

Carter Legendre handled the kick-off and PAT chores and Braden Buffington did the punting for the Bulldogs.

Bianco completed 5 of his 13 attempted passes good for 66 yards and 2 TDs.

Drake Rose was the leading ground gainer for Staunton. He carried the ball 12 times and gained a total of 66 yards.

On defense, Rose led the team with 7 solo tackles/ 1 assist/ plus 1 tackle that created lost yardage for Pana. Byron McCane had 3 solo tackles and 1 assist including one that cost lost yardage for Pana. Others with solo/assist tackles wereTom Scroggins 5/1, Cole Sternickle 2/1, Zach Anderson 3/0, Ray Gray 2/3, Khiry Taylor 4/3, Brendan Buffington 0-1, Greg Knop 2/1, Zander Machota 1/0, Jordan Snyder 1/0, Nate Oller 2/0, and Christian Haas 2-0.

The Bulldogs ended their season with a 3-6 record. Pana ended with 6-3 season record.
