The Staunton/BH Bulldogs were trailing 15-20 when heading to the lockerroom after the first half. But they were not done scoring. They came back strong to score eight in the third quarter and 13 in the fourth while holding North Mac scoreless to take the final 36 - 20 victory.
Staunton’s first score came in the first period when Jesse Baker rushed for a 7 yard TD. Legendre kicked the PAT giving Staunton their first seven points. In the second period, Dalton Bianco completed a pass to Hunter Wallace good for 21 yards and a Bulldog TD. Drake Rose ran the two-point conversion in, giving Staunton their 15 point, halftime score, but they were still trailing North Mac 15-20.
Staunton took the lead in the third quarter when Drake Rose ran 11 yards for a Bulldog TD. Rose also made the two-point conversion giving the Bulldogs their 23 - 20 lead after three quarters.
The fourth quarter was all Staunton. Trace Trettenero gave the fans something to cheer about as he ran 82 yards for a Bulldog TD. Legendre kicked the PAT. The Bulldogs’ next score of the game came when Daniel Blotevogel scored on a 1-yard run. The PAT try failed but Staunton had their 36 - 20 win over North Mac.
Bianco completed 6 of his 12 passing attempts gaining a total of 86 yards, 1 TD, and had 2 interceptions. Receiving for Staunton were Braden Buffington, 2 for 26 yards Rose, 1 for 12 yards; Trettenero, 1 for 3 yards; Wallace, 1 for 21 yards; and Johnnie Vercoglio, 1 for 24 yards.
Trettenero was the leading ground gainer for Staunton rushing a total of 123 yards in 11 carries. Rose carried the ball 14 times and gained a total of 114 yards.
John Snider led the defense with 7 solo tackles and 1 assist including a tackle creating lost yardage for North Mac. Cole Sternickle had 3 solo tackles, 3 assists and also had one tackle creating lost yardage for North Mac.
Other Bulldogs with solo tackles/assists were: Zach Anderson 7/0, Raymond Gray 4/1, Bryon McCane 3/0, Tom Scroggins 2/1, Khiry Taylor 2/1, Nate Oller 2/1, Braden Buffington 2/-0. Bulldogs with at least 1 solo tackle were Wallace, Dylan Jarden, Zander Machota and Carson Dugger.
