Staunton's Junior High Baseball team places 3rd at State

Well, the Staunton JH Baseball Season has come to an end, but not many schools in the State of Illinois can say they won their last game. The boys, under the tutelage of Coach Devin Ray, and Ryan Best took to the Class 2A state series this past weekend and made the most of it! The boys defeated St. Joseph in the opening round in a hard fought battle to pull out the win 2-0. This allowed the boys to advance to Saturday's medal games.

The semifinal round found the Terriers pitted against a tough Pleasant Plains Cardinals. Pleasant Plains ultimately got the best of the Terriers and went on to confidently win the 2A State Championship. The Terriers wouldn't let the loss linger in their minds too long though, as they went on to battle Braidwood Reed-Custer in the 3rd place game. The Terriers essentially led the whole way, and came out victorious in the end! Coach Ray and Coach Best stated that "the boys are great young baseball talents, and better yet, even better young men!" Congrats to the Terrier Baseball team for a wonderful 16-1 season! Great Work Boys!
