Devin Shewmake (28) of Alton, faces a felony charge of reckless discharge of a firearm, being that on Sept. 16, 2023, he fired a .22 in the direction of a home without a burm between the house and the fired shot which endangered the bodily safety of an individual.
Christopher E. Whitaker (43) of Virden, faces a felony charge for aggravated battery to a peace officer, being that on Sept. 22, 2023, Whitaker knowingly struck a peace officer of the Virden Police Department in the face.
Randall L. Love Jr. (32) of Gillespie, faces felony offenses for two aggravated domestic batteries, in that he strangled his girlfriend by grabbing her throat, applying pressure, and impeding her normal breathing. The defendant committed domestic battery for striking his girlfriend in the head and for causing bodily harm to a household member by striking her in the head with his hand on Sept. 21, 2023.
Donald E. Ruyle (50) of Benld, faces a charge for theft in labor services and property on Aug. 18, 2023, in that he knowingly utilized City of Gillespie water services without consent from the city. The defendant cut a lock off the water meter, accessed and used water services after the water meter to his residence had been shut off.
Jeremy A. Murphy (44) of Girard, committed the offense of criminal trespass, in that he knowingly and without lawful authority entered into Doc’s Restaurant on Aug. 13, 2023, located at Girard, after having previously been notified that his entry was forbidden.
Kimberly Warren (56) of Virden, committed the offense of Littering, in that on Aug. 16, 2023, said defendant threw household trash, upon a private property located in rural Virden, without the permission of the property owner.
Derek C. Horrighs (33) of Pawnee, committed the offense of retail theft, in that on Aug. 12, 2023, Horrighs knowingly took possession of merchandise items offered for sale in Ace Hardware, located in Carlinville, being an all-weather lamp socket, having a total value not in excess of $300. The defendant did so with the intention of depriving Ace Hardware permanently of such merchandise, without paying full retail value.
Larry J. Kelly (36) of Litchfield, faces the charge of criminal trespass, in that on Aug. 7, 2023, said defendant remained upon property located on Herman Road in Staunton, after having been given notice by the property owner to depart.
Boone J. Neel (34) of Carlinville, faces the charges of criminal trespass to a vehicle with physical control and for resisting an officer on Sept. 8, 2023. Neel knowingly and without authority entered a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze and knowingly resisted the performance of an officer within his official capacity, being the arrest of Neel, by pulling away from the officer while he was being detained.
Maryann Saracco (81) of Benld, faces a charge of theft, in that on July 5, 2023, said defendant knowingly exerted unauthorized control of decorative flowers belonging to the City of Benld with the intent to permanently deprive the city of said property.
Willie G. Helm (41) of St. Louis, Mo., faces a charge for obstructing the performance of a peace officer within his official capacity being the issuance of a citation in that Helm failed to comply with lawful orders on Sept. 21, 2023; Helm also faces a charge for criminal trespass in that he remained upon the property of Hardees, located in Staunton, after having been given notice by employees to depart.
DUI
Delci O. Ordonez (31) of Staunton, was ticketed for driving under the influence on W. Main Street and South Wood Street of Staunton at 11:33 p.m. on Sept. 16, 2023.
Timothy G. Gruhlke (46) of Staunton, was ticketed for two counts of driving under the influence, in that on Sept. 13, 2023, at 11:39 a.m., Gruhlke blew a .196.
