Dorothy Ann Arzig Stoddard, 91, died on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2023, at Staunton Health and Rehab in Staunton, Ill. She was born July 13, 1932, to Heman Edward Arzig and Amanda Fritzsche Arzig. She married Raymond D. Stoddard at the home of Eugene "Jeep" and Dolores "Pete" Niehaus. He survives.
She attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School and Mt. Olive High School in Mt. Olive. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lydia Circle in Mt. Olive, a lifetime member of the Mt. Olive VFW's Ladies Auxiliary Post 5790, Amvets Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the A.T.A. and an election judge.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Stoddard; a daughter, Carol Jean (Daniel "Danny") Pinkerton; a grandson, Daniel Pinkerton II; and a sister, Betty Shaw of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stoddard was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Stoddard; two brothers, Norman and Kenneth Arzig; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mt. Olive. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Ritter officiating. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
