A packed crowd and high scoring was too much for the Bulldogs

The Cavaliers enjoyed their home field advantage Friday evening, on Sept. 15, as Carlinville scored in every quarter (7 - 12 - 13 - 14: 46) to defeat Staunton 46 - 14.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the 3rd quarter on a 4-yard rushing TD by Drake Rose. Legendre kicked the PAT. In the 4th quarter, Jesse Baker scored a 23-yard rushing TD. Legendre kicked the PAT for Staunton's total of 14 points.

In the passing game, Dalton Bianco completed 4 passes for a total of 43 yards and had 1 intercepted. Elliot Frank also had two completed passes good for 17-yards and had one intercepted. Bulldog receivers were Braden Buffington (3 for 39 yards), Johnnie Vercoglio (1 for 4 yards), Zander Machota (1 for 5 yards), and Hunter Wallace, (1 for 12 yards). The leading ground gainer for Staunton was Baker, who gained a total of 49 -yards with 4 carries.

Khiry Taylor led the Bulldog defense with 5 solo tackles including two that created a Carlinville 11-yard loss and 4 assists. Tom Scroggins had 3 solo/4 assists including one that created a 6-yard loss for Carlinville. Rose made 3 solo and 1 assist including 1 that created a 6-yard loss for Staunton. Other leaders in the solo/assist tackles were Cole Sternickle 5/3, Henry Roller 5/1, Jordan Snider 4/2, Bryon McKane 4/0, and Nate Oller 4/1. Staunton players with at least 3 solo tackles were Matthew Weindel, and Dylan Jarden.

On Friday, Sept. 22, Staunton's Homecoming game will be against Gillespie
