Blotevogel

Vernon F. "Blote" Blotevogel, 91, of Worden, Ill., died on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at The Glenwood in Staunton. He was born March 31, 1932, in Worden, the son of the late George and Bertha (Pieper) Blotevogel. He married Lois A. Brakhane, and she preceded him in death on May 20, 1987. He later married Brigitte "Barb" Matzat, and she survives.

Vernon was an operator at Shell Oil in Roxana for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War era. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Worden.

Survivors include his wife, Brigitte "Barb" Blotevogel of Worden; a son, Thomas (Sondra) Blotevogel of Worden; a son-in-law, Scott (Susie) Myers of Worden; seven grandchildren, Richard (Kimberly) Blotevogel, Victor "Kyle" (Jennifer) Blotevogel, Zachary Blotevogel, Justin Blotevogel, Frederick Blotevogel, Lisa Ann (Dade) Noones, and Ashley Myers; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Edgar (Donna) Blotevogel of Tulsa, Okla .; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Patrice "Pat" Myers; and a brother, Victor Blotevogel.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Worden. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church with Rev. Heath Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Worden Lutheran Cemetery.
