Security and safety measures taken for school district

In a proactive effort to prioritize the safety and security of students, staff, and the entire school community, the Board of Education has announced significant investments in security measures. As of September 1, these initiatives include the implementation of a cutting-edge surveillance system and the approval of secure entrance installations at key locations within the school district.

One of the most noteworthy developments is the acquisition and installation of a state-of-the-art camera and surveillance system. This high-tech system promises to enhance the safety and security of school properties by providing comprehensive monitoring capabilities across the entire school campus. The cameras are strategically positioned to cover key areas, ensuring that any suspicious activities can be promptly identified and addressed. A comprehensive bid process was conducted to determine what system to utilize and what company to partner with for the installation. The Board of Education would like to thank Auto Sound & Security, Inc. located in Staunton for their professionalism and prioritization of installing the new system this past summer.

Furthermore, the Board has given the green light for the installation of secure entrances at two critical locations. The Elementary and Jr. High office and the Library entrance near the High School will undergo transformations to bolster security. These secure entrances will include enhanced access control measures, such as controlled access points and visitor screening. This proactive approach aims to create safe and welcoming environments for students, staff, and visitors while maintaining the highest standards of security.
