John Raymond Wolff, 78, of rural Litchfield, Ill., died on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, at his residence. He was born March 3, 1945, in Litchfield, to Norman Wolff and Darlene O. Modlin Wolff. He married Ruth Grosenheider on March 19, 1966, in Litchfield. She survives.
He was a lifelong farmer. He started his career in high school as he was honored with the State Farmer in 1964 and the American Farmer Degree at the National Convention in Kansas City, Mo. In 1973, he opened Carlinville Ford Tractor which later merged with Konneker Brown Inc. and finally retired from Sievers Equipment. He was an avid bowler, deer hunter and enjoyed riding along in the tractors. He was a 1963 graduate of Gillespie High School. In his later years, he started a collection of antique tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Wolff of rural Litchfield; daughter, Amy (Jason Kukla) Poole of Spaulding; grandchildren, Noah Poole, Carson J. Wolff, Bryce Kukla, Madilynn Kukla; sister, Janice (John Sr.) Bauer of rural Bunker Hill; aunt, Wanda Keck of Shipman; uncle, Wesley Wolff of Gillespie; and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Brad J. Wolff.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 2, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Burial was at Benld Cemetery in Benld.
