Issue of Aug. 20, 2008

After pulling a float in the Prairietown parade, Lucas A. Wiemers, age 21, was killed when he fell from his tractor while returning home. The tractor apparently hit a rut, throwing him to the ground, and he was run over by the tractor’s rear wheels.

A miscalculation in the Staunton School District multiplier for the tax bills has made it necessary to reprint them causing a delay in mailing the tax bills.

The Dollar General roof rafters on their building under construction collapsed Wednesday, causing another delay in their schedule.

Wendy Hartlieb of Highland and James Lentz of Staunton were married Aug. 18, 2007, in Staunton.

A daughter was born to Ron and Amy Maedge of Staunton on Aug. 3.

A daughter was born to Angie Odle and Rusty Henry II on Aug. 13.

A son was born to Logan McHenry and Zachary Turner of Virden on Aug. 12.
