Constance "Connie" Hawkins nee Haller, 76, of Staunton, Ill., formerly of White City, died peacefully on Aug. 17, 2023, at The Glenwood in Staunton. She was born in Litchfield, the daughter of Paul and Judith Haller, who both preceded her in death. She married Ion Hawkins on Aug. 4, 1987, in Macoupin County. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2021.
Connie attended Mt. Olive High School and graduated from Lewis and Clark Community College with her LPN certificate. She was an LPN and spent much of her career in nursing home care and managing home health care. Connie and Ion retired to St. Cloud, Florida, for several years before returning back to this area to be closer to her family.
Connie is survived by five children, William Tooley Jr. of Palmyra, Terri Tooley of Palmyra, Paula Tooley of Carlinville, Shain Tooley (Debra Beck) of Springfield, and Ryan (Carrie) Kilduff of Staunton; 11 grandchildren, Linsey and Keven Tooley, Hannah Hohimer, Josh Nurdin, Natasha Tooley, Aaron and Andrew Hurley, Quintin, Zachary, and Brice Tooley, and Simon Kilduff; numerous great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Donna Booth of Mt. Olive and Shelley (Ed) Becker of Mt. Olive. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Everette "Zeb" Booth.
Visitation service will be at Becker & Son Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 25, from 10 to 11:15 a.m. with a brief service to follow.
