The August 17, 2023 meeting was called to order at 1:00 by the President, Gerri Cook by everyone saying The Lord's Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance. There were 21 members present with no visitors or new members attending. We all enjoyed listening to Jon Payne and Jamie Payne from Genesis Wealth Mgmt Group, LLC who gave us handouts for different items and plans available regarding VA benefits, Medicare, and Legacy planning. Also Jennifer from The Glenwood took blood pressure for those who wanted it. We received thanks from the St Paul Christian Church for the Club's contribution of back to school backpacks.
The Attendance prizes were given to Betty Hicks and Shirley Copeland and Betty Hicks and Linda Pike won the Pots of Silver. Cupcakes were enjoyed by all for our July and August birthdays.
The meeting was adjourned and the members enjoyed playing bingo which was called by Leslie Vannoy, Regional Administrator for The Glenwood Assisted Living Facilities. The next Staunton Senior Citizens meeting will start at 1:00 on Thursday, Sept 7, 2023 at St. Paul's Christian Church at 225 S. Laurel St in Staunton.
