Staunton Senior Citizen Meeting

The Aug. 3 meeting was called to order by the president, Gerri Cook, at 1 p.m. There were 23 members present with no visitors or new members attending. The previous minutes and the treasury report were presented and accepted. John Paine will be at the next meeting on Aug. 17 to give some financial and VA information to the members.

It was announced that ham sandwiches will be served at the second meeting in Sept. Also, an Illinois valley employee for Macoupin County will be at that meeting to advise on some benefits provided to senior citizens by the state or county. Attendance prizes were given to Bev Beyer and Mary Lyons. Carolyn Strassen and Helen Lindsey won the pots of silver.

The meeting was adjourned and the members enjoyed playing bingo, which was called by member, Dennis Williams. The next Staunton senior citizens meeting will be on Thursday, Aug. 17, starting at 1 p.m. The location is at St. Paul's Christian Church, located at 225 S. Laurel Street, Staunton. Card sales will also be starting at 12:30 p.m.
