Osterbuhr

David G. Osterbuhr, 77, of Livingston, Ill., passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra. He was born June 3, 1946, in New Douglas, the son of the late George and Leona (Schilling) Osterbuhr. On Oct. 14, 1967, Dave married Maureen Trettenero, his best friend and the love of his life, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston; and she survives.

Dave was employed as an operator at Shell Oil Refinery until his retirement in 2007, and was a volunteer fireman with the Livingston/Williamson Fire Department for over 40 years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1965 to 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen Osterbuhr of Livingston; one son, Michael (Jeanne) Osterbuhr of Bloomington; two daughters, Angela (Dennis) Bentlage of New Douglas, Mary Beth (Scott) Billings of Staunton; six grandchildren, Alex (Alexis) Osterbuhr, Alyssa (Alex) Rappe', Cody (Christine Kalmer) Bentlage, Connor Bentlage, Savannah Billings, Drake Billings; three great-grandsons, Luca Osterbuhr, Briggs Bentlage, Eli Osterbuhr; two sisters, Joanne Schneck of New Douglas, Karen Obermark of New Douglas; one brother, Dean Osterbuhr of North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Osterbuhr; two sisters, Donna Holloway, Jan Scanzoni; and stepfather Sid Goring.

Funeral services were held at on Tuesday, July 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston, with interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Livingston. The Staunton Military Honor Guard provided graveside military rites.

Dave was a gentle, kind and loving husband, father, and patient teacher. He instilled in us the value of working hard and spending time with family. On his final day, he was surrounded by his wife and children. He supported us all throughout the many accomplishments and difficulties in our lives. When Dave wasn't working or volunteering in the community, he could be found at any of his children or grandchildren's events.
