Grandidier

Delores “DoDo” Grandidier, 86, of St. Louis, Mo., and formerly of Mt. Olive, died peacefully on Saturday morning, July 22, 2023, at Copper Creek Cottages Memory Care of Litchfield with family by her side. She was born May 15, 1937, in Mt. Olive, a daughter of Alfred and Tillie Grandidier of Mt. Olive.

Delores and her dear friend, Valera Schoen, grew up together, graduated from Mt. Olive High School, moved to St. Louis, Missouri, and began their careers with Defense Mapping Agency at 18 years of age. They resided together in South St. Louis and retired at the age of 55 following 37 years of dedicated service.

DoDo was a beloved sister and aunt to her brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was a joyful, giving person who was most happy spending time with her family.  She was a passionate fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and loved attending games, always purchasing an official scorecard and keeping score like a professional. She was also a devoted animal lover who, as a child, had a pet dog, Fluffy, as well as a duck and chickens living in her yard.

She is survived by nephews, Gary (Cindy) Grandidier of Granite City, Jay (Shari) Grandidier of Mt. Olive; nieces, Gina Boehler of Springfield, and Kathleen Grandidier of St. Louis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Lavern “Ray” (Elaine) Grandidier of St. Louis, Leroy “Potsy” (Virginia) Grandidier of Springfield, and Garnier “Granny” (Joyce) Grandidier of Mt. Olive.

A private graveside celebration will be held near her parents at the Union Miner’s Cemetery in Mt. Olive.
