Burgard

Linda Ellen Burgard, 73, of Staunton, Ill., died at The Bradford Place in Swansea, on Saturday, July 22, 2023. She was born April 19, 1950, in Peoria, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Wassi.

She had been employed as a custodian/bus driver in the Staunton School District in Staunton. She loved gardening, landscaping, and flowers. She also enjoyed fishing and shopping.

Survivors include one son, Dan (Tobi) Burgard of Edwardsville; a grandson, Keegan Burgard; a granddaughter, Hannah Cress; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Cosabella Cress; a brother, George Wassi of Farmington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Wassi; and two sisters, Pat Matthews and Bette Wassi.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 6 p.m. at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton with Rev. Nancy Hubert officiating.
