The members of the Staunton Senior Citizens sat down to a catered luncheon at 12 noon on June 15. The June 15 meeting was then called to order at 1 p.m. by President Gerri Cook. There were 25 people attending including two visitors. There were three birthdays for June and the group sang Happy Birthday. A card request was made for a member who is under the weather. Attendance prizes went to Dennis Williams and Nancy Johns. The pots of silver were won by Dee Masinelli and Shirley Copeland.
Gerri Cook announced that at the July 6th meeting, all who wear red, white and blue can get a free bingo card. Also, that is the date the election will take place. Stephanie from Illinois Valley is scheduled to attend our July 20 meeting to give the members information on benefits offered to seniors from the state such as a reduced license plate fee.
The meeting was adjourned and everyone enjoyed playing bingo called by Leslie Vannoy, the regional administrator for The Glenwood Assisted Living facilities. The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. on July 6 at St. Paul United Church of Christ at 225 S. Laurel Street in Staunton.
