Howard A. Reising, 70, of Hamel, Ill., died Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh. He was born on May 22, 1953, in Staunton, the son of Herman and Anna (Rode) Reising.
Howard grew up two miles east of Hamel on Hoxey Road and has lived in Hamel most of his life. In 1990 he and Keith Behrhorst purchased Hamel Concrete Products, later started a tire business and phased out the concrete business. They sold the business in 2015, to retire. He enjoyed hunting deer and quail, butchering and golfing.
Survivors include three children, Rachel Stevenson of Granite City, Andrew "Bill" (Bridget) Reising of Staunton, Holly Reising of Edwardsville; grandchildren, Juliann Stevenson (who Howard raised and considered a daughter), Olivia Rameriz, Anna Stevenson, Carter Reising, Wyatt Reising; brothers, Harlan Reising of Worden, Wilbur "Buddy" (Julie) Gusewelle of Edwardsville, Jim Reising of Edwardsville; and sisters, Gloria Hemken of Staunton, Carol St. John of Edwardsville, Phyllis Ramirez of Edwardsville, and Karen Reising of Anna. He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife, Karen Sue (Zimmer) Reising; brothers, Kenneth Reising, Dale Reising, Neal Reising, Kenneth "Goose" Gusewelle; and sister, Doris "Jeannie" Brunnworth.
A celebration of life will be at a later date.
Dauderman Mortuary in Hamel was in charge of arrangements.
