The Macoupin Art Collective to tour area communities

The MAC’s Art Bus plans to make stops in Macoupin, Madison, and St. Clair counties in the coming days.

The Macoupin Art Collective, also more commonly known as The MAC, is a school of arts and crafts, and hosts many entertaining and educational events throughout the year in a variety of ways including hosting various classes at their location in Staunton, as well as through their Art Bus.

Making its debut in the fall of 2022, the Art Bus is a relatively new addition to the art school. By going to nearby cities, the bus brings art to adults and children alike who may not be able to access art otherwise.

Containing everything from glue and glitter, to sewing machines, and pottery wheels, the Art Bus is a miniature version of The MAC on wheels. With this wide variety of tools and supplies, people can experiment with types of art they previously have not worked with. Of course, the Art Bus is not just for people who do not have much experience with arts and crafts, but it is for anyone who is interested in learning more about different methods and techniques in art and its mediums.

Several times throughout the year, The MAC holds various art shows, allowing anyone and everyone to submit work they have created that relates to that show. The next art show begins on July 8 and runs through Aug. 5 and will be showcasing Shrinky Dinks, a nostalgic and fun craft for all. If interested in submitting work for this art show, submissions are due on July 1 and applications can be accessed by contacting The MAC at 618-635-2015 or emailing them at [email protected].
