David Allen Zimmerman, 54, of Bunker Hill, Ill., died at Anderson Hospital in Maryville on Thursday, June 1, 2023. He was born Jan. 31, 1969, in Alton, to Duane and Joan (Burt) Zimmerman. He married Stephanie Lahey on June 17, 1989, in Fosterburg, and she survives.
He was an electrician where he completed warehouse maintenance. He was a member and shop steward of Local 649 IBEW. David was a member of the Bunker Hill Volunteer Fire Department Association. He was an avid hunter of boar and white tail bucks. He enjoyed fishing, four wheeling and was a jack of all trades.
He is survived by his parents, Duane and Susan Zimmerman of Brighton; wife, Stephanie Zimmerman of Bunker Hill; children, Jake (Leah) Zimmerman of Jerseyville, Tiffany (Andrew) McCurdy of Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Mason McCurdy, Lincoln Zimmerman, Huxley McCurdy, Charlotte "Charli" Zimmerman, and Baby McCurdy is expected; sister, Vickie (Marv) Miller of Houston, Texas; brother, Brian (Lee Ann) Biggs of Fosterburg, and sister, Amy (Ben) Richey of Medora. David was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Zimmerman; mother-in-law, Judith Otto; brother-in-law, Timothy Lahey; and other family and friends.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 7, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill from 2 until 6 p.m. Funeral services follow on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life at Red's Tavern in Bunker Hill.
