Staunton will be bustling this weekend

Route 66 cruise, Touch-a-Truck event both on Saturday; city-wide yard sales Friday and Saturday

Get ready to shop, walk among some of the most iconic cars ever made, and get a close-up view of big working trucks and vehicles this weekend in Staunton.

The fun starts with the annual city-wide yard sales that will be spread out all over town and parts of the countryside starting at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. You are sure to find some treasures for your home, garage, toy box or closet by visiting the many garage sales around town. Maps showing sale locations can be picked up at Staunton City Hall, Casey's, Circle K, Bill's IGA and Mayfield's on Friday.

On Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Route 66 Cruise will be passing through Staunton with a lunch stop on Main Street. The vehicles will be pulling in from Cavataio's on South Edwardsville Street to Union Street. While they are stopped for lunch it will give classic car fans a chance to view the wide variety of vehicles that are taking part in this annual cruise.

Two food vendors will be on hand for the cruisers and anyone who is hungry. Mason's Cottage Kitchen features all-beef hot dogs dressed up just the way you like them, plus bratwurst, pepper belly and lemonade shake-ups. M&K BBQ will be selling their award-winning barbecue.

The Touch-a-Truck event also takes place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kids of all ages will enjoy this up-close view of work trucks including fire trucks, ambulances, tow trucks, and lots more.
