Michael Matesa is coming off the block in the 4x100 relay. The team of Michael Matesa, Ethan Rantanen, Braden Buffington and Trace Trettenero qualified for state and will run on Thursday in the 25th in prelims at EIU.
The Staunton men's track team competed at the IHSA Class 1A Regional at Gillespie on May 18. Of the 18 teams entered, Staunton placed 9th with 28.75 team points. Auburn was first with 91 team points.
The 4x100 relay team of Michael Matesa, Ethan Rantanen, Trace Trettenero and Braden Buffington won 2nd place in the their event and have qualified to advance to State Prelims at Eastern.
The 4x200 relay team of Michael Matesa, Ethan Rantanen, Trace Trettenero and Braden Buffington also placed 2nd and are State qualifiers advancing to the Prelims at Eastern.
