Lady Bulldogs finish 19-9

The Staunton High School girls softball team completed their 2023 schedule with an overall 19-9 won/loss record and 6-3 in conference.

On May 15 the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Greenville Comets 15-0. Staunton scored a run in the first inning, one in the second, 5 in the third and had an 8 run rally in the 4th to take the 15-0 win in 5 innings.

Lilly Bandy led the team in RBIs with 5. She had 3 hits including a double and scored 1 run. Other runs were scored by Kylie Lucykow, LillyTroeckler, Ele Feldmann, Evin Frank and Taylor Nolan, 2 ea.; Samantha Anderson, Gianna Bianco, Korryn Keehner and Taylor Seelbach, 1 ea.

Other RBIs were by Lucykow, Troeckler, Feldman, and Frank, 2 ea.; Anderson, and Seelbach, 1 ea.

On May 17, the Lady Bulldogs played their last game of the regular season defeating Gillespie 5-4. This was an exciting game all the way with the lead changing hands and the game winning run scored in the final inning.

Nolan led the team in RBIs with 3 thanks to her 2 hits including a home run. Feldman had the team’s other RBI. She had 3 hits including a double. Bandy had 3 hits and scored 3 runs. Other runs were scored by Anderson and Nolan. Other hits were by Lucykow and Frank, 1 ea.

Pitching duties were shared by Feldmann, 3 innings; Bianco, 3.2 innings and Nolan .1inning. Bianco faced 16 batters, struck out 1, walked 2, gave up 1 earned run on 3 hits. Feldman faced 16 batters, struck out 0, walked 1, gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and Nolan faced 4 batters, struck out none, walked 1, gave up 1 earned run , 0 hits.

Staunton played Salem on Saturday, May 20, and lost in a close 4-2 game. Salem scored 3 times in the 1st inning, and added an insurance run in the 3rd. Staunton scored 1 run in the first and another run in the 3rd for their 2 runs.

Staunton had 10 hits–2 each by Feldmann, Frank and Nolan and 1 each by Anderson, Troeckler, Bandy and Koehner.

RBIs were by Feldmann and by Bandy who hit a home run.

Feldmann faced 16 batters in 2.1 innings, allowing 5 hits and 4 runs (3 earned). She struck out 2 and walked 3. Bianco faced 16 batters in 3.2 innings and allowed 3 hits and no runs. She struck out 3 and walked 1.
