The May 18 meeting of the Staunton Senior Citizens was called to order at 1 p.m. by president, Gerri Cook. There were 30 members in attendance. The Lord's Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance were said. There were no visitors or new members. It was announced that Caroline Strasen's brother-in-law passed away and a card request was made.
Birthdays were Ruby Hering and Gale McKean to whom we sang Happy Birthday. Attendance prizes went to Helen Lindsey and Margaret Heinemeyer. Shirley Copeland and Beverly Williams won the pots of silver. Judy Hampton reported R&B's food choices for our luncheon on June 15, and members voted on the menu. Three members will make and bring brownies for dessert. The lunch will start at 12 noon and Dennis Williams will pick up the food. Members are to arrive around 11:30 a.m.to purchase cards before the start of the meal.
There was no other business and the meeting was adjourned at 1:40 p.m. and the members enjoyed playing bingo which was called by Dennis Williams.
The next meeting of the Staunton Senior Citizens group will be held on June 1 at 1 p.m. Come around 12:30 to purchase your cards. The meeting will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ at 225 S. Laurel Street in Staunton.
