Madison Communications recently acquired the cable territories of Macoupin County Cablevision.

The Bond Madison water towers are under construction and the 40 miles of water line are complete.

A daughter was born to Bill Miller and Shannon Garrett of Staunton on Feb. 17 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.

A son was born to Mark and Amy Biznek of Las Vegas, Nev., on Feb. 16.

A son was born to Michael and Deana (Zotz) Henke of Worden on March 3 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.

Amy Weber and Jason Baker were married Dec. 16, 1997, in Staunton.

Stephen R. Pruden Sr. (47) of Staunton died March 14 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Doyal L. Mertz (63) of Staunton died March 13 at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis.

Erma L. Rucker (72) of Staunton died March 13 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Ann L. Alexander (55) of Gillespie died March 14 at St. John’s North in Springfield.

Betty L. Caldieraro (66) of Staunton died March 12 at Community Memorial Hospital.

Edward J. Schmidt Sr. (76) of Staunton died March 16 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Elizabeth “Betty” Knish (85) of Hessville, Ind., formerly of Mt. Olive, died March 5 at the Hammond Nursing Home.

A trio of 17-year-olds were apprehended on Route 4 near Staunton for stealing a car and breaking into local vehicles.

The Staunton School Board decided to proceed with installing a new all-weather track with a target price of about $520,000.

The Macoupin County Board has given their approval to a referendum that will potentially decrease the number of board members.

Amy Cook of Arlington, Va., and Gerald “G.T.” Prante, of Vienna, Va., formerly of Staunton, were married Nov. 24, 2008, in Pennsylvania.
