The City of Staunton received a state grant for improvements or construction of boat access at Staunton Reservoir.
An accident shut down Renken Road for two hours on March 5. Vehicles driven by Duane Lowery of Staunton and Edwin and Wilma Langendorf of Midway collided. The Langendorfs had to be extricated from their car.
Louis E. Dragoy and Gaylor D. McAllister were married in Sawyerville on Feb. 14.
Roger “Red” Armstrong Pollett (71) of Livingston died March 5 at Wood River Township Hospital.
Daryl Eugene Muth (71) of Vancouver, Wash., died on Feb. 27.
Melvin L. “Busch” Heinemeier (81) of Carlinville, formerly of Staunton, died March 8 at the home of his daughter in Carlinville.

The Staunton Chapter of the National honor Society inducted 29 new members.
Staunton Junior High’s seventh grade volleyball team advanced to the State playoffs but lost in the first round.
The eighth grade volleyball team won the Regional Championship.
