David Buck, Jr., age 39, of Medora, was sentenced last week in Macoupin County by the Honorable Joshua A. Meyer to 66 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the first degree murder of Rachel Warren of Chesterfield.
Buck was found guilty by a jury in January of 2023. At the sentencing hearing, evidence was given as to the defendant’s criminal history showing Buck had been previously convicted of seven felonies, mostly out of the State of Texas. At the time of the offense Buck had been released from the custody of the State of Texas and was on parole. He fled to Illinois in the winter of 2017-18 at which time he committed the murder.
The defendant was also sentenced to concurrent time in prison for possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen firearm, possession of a weapon by a felon and aggravated and unlawful restraint, all which arose out of this incident.
Buck is not eligible for parole until after his 100th birthday.
