Lady Bulldogs are County Champions

The Staunton girls were scheduled to play the winner of Monday's (Jan. 16) North Mac vs. Mt. Olive game at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the Macoupin County Tournament. North Mac defeated Mt. Olive (64-25) and then the Lady Bulldogs defeated North Mac (59-26).

The win on Tuesday put the Lady Bulldogs in the tournament championship game vs. Gillespie to be played Friday, Jan. 20.

This brought an interesting bit of tournament history to light. The game is being called a rematch of the 1995 championship game. The MVP in that game was Corrie Allan, a senior on the Gillespie team. That same Cor...
