David Wayne Slifka, 67, of Staunton, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, Mo. He was born on Oct. 14, 1955, in Litchfield, a son of the late Frank and Sylvia (McKinnerney) Slifka. He married Tammy Howerton on Aug. 29, 1987, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Staunton, and she survives.
He was a truck driver for over 50 years.
Private memorial services will be held at Net Community Church in Staunton with Pastor Derrick Taylor officiating. Interment will be at Spangle Cemetery near Livingston.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Slifka of Staunton; stepson, Nicholas (Grace) Jones; step-granddaughter, Melanie Jones; sister, Judith (Russell) Klein; brother, Frank (Alice) Slifka; mother-in-law, Eileen Howerton; brother-in-law, Randy Howerton; sister-in-law, Lori (Jimmy) Bain; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Slifka; and father-in-law, Lester Howerton.
