Charges were filed against a rural Staunton youth in the theft of jackets valued in excess of $300 taken from Dietikers in a grab and run theft on Dec. 15.

Warning signals were installed at the DeCamp railroad crossing on Route 4. Flashing lights, gates and a bell were installed at a cost of $90,600.

A son was born to Brian and Lisa Vazzi Sciranko on Dec. 9 at Anderson Hospital.

A daughter was born to Jeff and Carol Schmidt of Staunton on Dec. 4.

Jim and Mildred (Ruehrup) Tsupros of Staunton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 21.

Robert and Doris (Ruehrup) Vallow of Staunton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 28.

Frank and Vanita (Loeh) Urban of Sun City Ariz., formerly of this area, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Nov. 20.

Phyllis Derycke and Matthew Murphy, formerly of Staunton, were married Oct. 4 in Rosemont, Ill.

Mildred Dover Coatney (91) of Staunton, formerly of Wilsonville, died Dec. 11 at her home.

Helen Violet Knes (84) of St. Louis, formerly of Mt. Olive and Staunton, died Dec. 8 at Woodland Manor in Arnold, Mo.

Christmas greetings were extended from many area businesses.

A Benld man, Anthony Hendricks, was responsible for the accidental bow and arrow shooting death of his brother-in-law, Trevor Farmer of Chesterfield.

A $36,000 single donation was given to the Staunton Education Foundation, the largest thus far.

A daughter was born to Andy and Jennifer (Sexton) Schultze on Nov. 5.

A daughter was born to Ryan and Natasha Lenger of Brighton on Oct. 19.

A daughter was born to Morgan and Mike Nepute of Carlinville on Dec. 11.

Larry and Angie Prost were married Nov. 3 in Jamaica.
