Carlinville resident Ashley Bottoms, age 33, pled not guilty on Thursday to the charges filed against her involving the death of 3-year-old Hunter Drew. She is seeking a jury trial.
Bottoms was charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangering the life of a child causing death on Oct. 20 when Bottoms threw 3-year-old Hunter Drew while breaking up a fight between two juveniles. Hunter's head hit a ledge and he died from his injuries while Bottoms allegedly drove around for more than three hours without seeking medical attention.
Bottoms is currently in the Macoupin County Jail and appeared at the hearing via closed circuit television. She will have a pretrial hearing on Jan. 18.
