Staunton man dies in crash in West Alton

A Staunton man, George D. Redenius, age 82, was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Tuesday, Oct. 18, after his car was struck by a Hino truck that ran a red light at a West Alton intersection.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 67 at Richard Drive.

According to the crash report, a 2020 Hino Conventional was traveling northbound on U.S. 67 when the driver, a 25-year-old Missouri man, failed to stop at a red light and went through the intersection, hitting the right front side of the 2015 Ford F150 driven by Redenius.

The crash impact pushed Redenius' Ford into a third vehicle operated by a 26-year- old Illinois man, according to the police. Redenius died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. His obituary is on page 2
