Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan J. Garrison announced on Friday, Oct. 14, that Stormy L. Ray, age 36, was sentenced by the Honorable Joshua A. Meyer to nine years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for delivery of methamphetamine.
On July 20, 2022, the defendant pled guilty to the charge, and the matter was set for sentencing hearing on Sept. 20. Ray failed to appear at that sentencing hearing and a warrant was issued.
The defendant was arrested on Oct. 5, and the matter was set for sentencing hearing on Oct. 14. At the sentencing, hearing, Illinois State Police Trooper Justin Frankford testified Ray had previously delivered methamphetamine in another instance which occurred on May 18, 2022.
“The delivery of methamphetamine is harming our communities and is harming more than the individual user,” said Judge Meyer at the hearing.
“I want to thank the Illinois State Police, specifically Trooper Michael Stephenson and Trooper Justin Frankford for getting methamphetamine off the streets,” said State’s Attorney Garrison.
