Crider

James Alfred "Al" Crider, 91, of Alton, Ill., died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born in Wood River on July 6, 1931, a son of James W. Crider and Zelma Hogel Crider Rockefeller.

He was a painter, carpenter, and a musician, playing music locally for years with brothers Jack and Gary. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served in Korea.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy (Oscar) Robbins, Chris (Bob) Jackson, Norma (Ed) Zelenka, all of Gillespie; son, Steven Crider of Alton; seven grandchildren, Oscar (Tim Roberson) Robbins Jr. of Springfield, Wendy (Terri Michki) Whitworth of Benld, Stacy (Kyle) Knutson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Meghan (Jeff) Hopper of Gillespie, Zachary Zelenka of Gillespie, Alex (Brendon) Campbell of Petersburg, Colton Crider of Riverton; and seven great-grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m., at the VFW in Staunton. Memorials can be made there to the family to help with expenses.
