Dixon

Jessie Marie Dixon, 81, of Bunker Hill, Ill., died at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo., on Friday, Sept. 30, 2022. She was born Oct. 28, 1940, in Granite City to Jesse and Evelyn (Ely) Singleton. She married Walter Dixon on Jan. 12, 1957, in Batchtown. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2022, after 65 years of marriage.

She worked several years at Bill's IGA and the Ben Franklin store in Bunker Hill where she would share her love of sewing with the customers, she was an accomplished seamstress. She had a love for flowers, and many flowers adorned her yard and lake. Jessie was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and soon to be a great-great-grandmother. She was a daughter, sister, friend, and coworker. Jessie was a member of TOPS for many years, where she met many new friends to share her story and listen to theirs. Jessie was a collector of dolls. She had a canine best friend named Sampson. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Bunker Hill for 46 years.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Barbara) Dixon, of Hudson, Fla., Susan Dixon of Bunker Hill, Carey (Mary) Dixon of Fredericktown, Mo., Sarah (Rolland) Meffert of Shipman, Amy Miles of Brighton; grandchildren, Ian, Reanna, Joshua, Brooke, Jonathan, Robert, Justin, Jessica, Jodie, Joel, Jayme, Jesse, Joseph, Lane, Valerie, Keith, Thomas, Samantha, Wesley; 34 great-grandchildren; sisters, Diane (Robert) Behme of Holiday Shores, Janice (Larry) Card of Dorsey; sister-in-law, Virginia Singleton of Moro; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandchildren, Jennifer, Daniel, Molly; brother, Wayne Singleton; sisters-in-law, Lois Woelfel and her husband Steve Woelfel, Wanda Tepen and her husband, Vince Tepen; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ogal and Leon Dixon.

Visitation is Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill. Funeral services will be on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m. at First Congregational Church, Bunker Hill.
