Associated Bank headquartered in Wisconsin has made the decision to close two of the bank branches that were part of the deal in their 2020 purchase of First National Bank of Staunton. The Staunton bank operated nine branches at the time of the acquisition by Associated Bank.
The branches in Benld and Mt. Olive will close on Friday, Nov. 18, and the ATMs at both locations will remain in operation until the buildings are sold. Customers have been sent a letter notifying them of the impending changes.
The Associated Bank branches were the sole banks in each of the towns. United Community Bank operates a branch in nearby Gillespie, and there are three banks in Staunton.
