Staunton's Ribfest this Saturday

The 2022 version of Staunton Ribfest will be held this Saturday, Aug. 27, at Staunton Recreation Park (Firemen’s Park).

All cookers as well as all judges participating in the Ribfest must be members of the STL BBQ Society.

Cookers entered in the competition will get their kitchen/smokers set up in the park at 6 a.m. Meat will be distributed courtesy of the City of Staunton and Bill’s IGA.

Official judging begins at 2:30 p.m. with the winners being announced at 4 p.m. Cash prizes being awarded to winners are $500 for first place, $300 for second, $250 for third, $150 for fourth. Fifth place is awarded a free entry into the 2023 Ribfest.

Everyone is invited to the park to enjoy the smells emanating from all the competition kitchens while listening to a great lineup of live music. Ribs and an assortment of other foods and beverages will be available.

The musical entertainment is being presented by The Original Fat Chance from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Taking the stage at 6:30 p.m. will be Hashtag 80. They will play until 10:30 p.m.

Food will be available for visitors all day including ribs, chicken kabobs, pulled pork, ribeye sandwiches,smoked bologna, “Bulldog” hot dogs and cucumber salad.
