Macoupin County State’s Attorney Jordan J. Garrison has announced that Joseph V. Greear, age 50, of Girard, was sentenced by the Honorable Joshua A. Meyer to 11 years, 6 months, in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of unlawful possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, a class 1 felony.
At the sentencing hearing, the state played a video which showed the defendant admitting he supplied methamphetamine to other dealers in Macoupin County.
“Methamphetamine is wreaking havoc on not only our county, but all counties throughout our country,” said Judge Meyer. “This is a crime we must deter.”
“I want to commend Trooper Dillon Adams, Trooper Justin Frankford and Inspector Matt Marburger for their work in this matter,” said Garrison. “The continued cooperation between Macoupin County Sheriff Shawn Kahl’s Department and the Illinois State Police has continued to give my office the ability to aggressively investigate and prosecute methamphatamine dealers.”
Greear is not eligible for parole until the end of 2027.
