Barbara Anne Cox, 88, of Benld, Ill., died at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022. She was born Dec. 28, 1933, in Granite City to Joseph and Lucille Gobble Olds. She married Glen R. "Buzzy" Cox on Nov. 27, 1954, in Bunker Hill. He preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2021.

Barbara was a member of the Benld United Methodist Church. She was a mother, grandmother and beloved matriarch whose joy in life was her role of being a homemaker, raising, nurturing and loving her children and grandchildren. She has now gone home to the loving arms of Jesus undoubtedly by whom she was welcomed by. Besides her family and her love of God, her passions were taking pictures of her family and sending pictures to her family, family gatherings, sitting at her table and sending out caring cards to those who needed them not only family but anyone she heard that needed her thoughts, prayers and love. She will be sadly missed but remembered for her Christian faith, character, kindness, sweet voice, laugh, positivity, beauty, strength, warm embraces and the ability to make everyone feel loved. She also remembered all her family on their birthdays and at Christmas and made sure all of them received a card. In each card, she wrote Jesus loves you.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Marty) Derganc of Benld, Annette (Bart) Baker of Shipman, Joey Cox of Sawyerville, Barbie Cox of Benld, Glenda (Tim) Margaritis of Staunton, Kathleen Cox of Staunton, Michael Cox of Maryland, Cara (Tim) Cox Bates of Moro, Dale (Tina) Cox of Carlinville; daughters-in-law, Brandi Cox of Benld, Khara Cox of Alabama; 30 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; sister, Janet (companion, Dudley Tatum) House of Arnold, Mo .; and brother, Michael Olds of Chicago. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin sons, Brian and Brady Cox; infant daughter, Sara Beth Cox; grandson, Caleb Cox; and daughter-in-law, JoAnn Cox.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 8, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld. Burial was at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
