Hunsinger

Harold H. Hunsinger, 90, of Maryville, Ill., died on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Staunton to the late Elvin and Leona Dohm Hunsinger. He married the love of his life, Shirley Martinelli, on May 5, 1956.

Harold was a 1949 Staunton High School graduate and 1953 graduate of Illinois State. He retired after 50 years of service as a communications manager in the heating and air conditioning industry. He was an Army veteran, member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville and enjoyed photography.

Surviving is his wife, Shirley Hunsinger; four sons: Mark (Andria) Hunsinger of Orlando, Fla., Steve Hunsinger of Maryville, Chris Hunsinger of Maryville, and Michael (Michelle) Hunsinger of Maryville; 11 grandchildren: Melissa (Matt) England, Kristine (Nathan) Mueller, Kevin (Brittany) Hunsinger, Amber (Jeramiah) Miller, Kelly Hunsinger, Autumn Hunsinger, Holly (Thomas) Royer, Rachel (Michael) Dolan, Libby (Ben) Hutcherson, Katie (Joseph) Valencia and Ben (Ashley) Hunsinger; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Stock of Elgin. Besides his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Anthony Hunsinger.

Memorial Mass was held on Tuesday, July 19, at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Maryville, with Father Rob Johnson celebrant. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.
