Spudich

Lynette Lucille Spudich, 95, of Glen Carbon, Ill., formerly of Hamel, died on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Meridian Village Senior Living Community in Glen Carbon. She was born April 6, 1927, in Staunton, a daughter of the late Claude Truman and Lucille (Hebenstreit) O'Neal. She married George E. Spudich on Jan. 13, 1946, in Livingston. George preceded Lynette in death on March 22, 2018.

She was baptized on May 6, 1927, at Zion Lutheran Church in Staunton and was confirmed on her 14th birthday. Lynette graduated from Staunton High School in 1945 where she was an honor student and Homecoming Queen in her senior year. Lynette was employed at Shell Oil Company in the engineering office. Later, she was appointed as Postmaster at Sorento, IL 62086 and retired in 1988. Lynette's hobbies included swimming and reading. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hamel.

Lynette is survived by her son, Jack Spudich, his wife Tamra Coldren, of Edwardsville; granddaughter, Abigail Coldren Spudich of Denver, Colo .; and grandson, Bradley O'Neal Spudich of Edwardsville; sister-in-law, Violet (Al) Stein of Staunton; brother-in-law, John (Deemana) Spudich of Granite City; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Peggy (Frank) Martin; brothers: Calvin (Mary) O'Neal, Robert (Olga) O'Neal; and brother-in-law, Roy (Shirley) Spudich.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 14, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church located near Hamel. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. William Gleason, pastor emeritus, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.
