McCollum

Jessica Dianne McCollum, 47, of Mt. Olive, Ill., died on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at her residence. Jessica was born on Jan. 23, 1975, the daughter of Floyd and Claudia (Lewis) Collins.

She attended and graduated from Staunton School District. She earned an Associate's Degree from Ranken Technical College where her focus was architecture and drafting. She was a member of Walshville Baptist Church in Walshville. Jessi enjoyed being a mother and grandmother and babysitting her two grand-dogs, Leonardo and B'Elanna. Her best friend and furry companion was Penny Lane (Penelope). Her hobbies included drawing, gardening and jewelry making. She enjoyed sewing and creating pieces for her family, friends, and neighbors. Her love of music affected every aspect of her life. Going to concerts was one of her main joys in life. She collected albums and band T-shirts.

She is survived by her parents; three daughters, Hannah McCollum, Meghan McCollum, and Abbie McCollum; two granddaughters, Phoebe and Aubrie McCollum, all of Mt. Olive; and three brothers, Floyd Collins Jr. of Charleston, Jason (Alexandra) Collins, and Joshua Collins of Mt. Olive. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, July 2, at Walshville Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Funeral services follow at 2 p.m. In honor of Jessi, the family asks that anyone attending wear a tie-dye shirt.
