Telsie Juanita (Barnes) Rust, 88, died at Heritage Health in Staunton, Ill., on Thursday, June 9, 2022. She was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Ellington, Mo., in Reynolds County, to Dora and Ruth (Whitchurch) Barnes. She married Pete Dobrinich on Aug. 26, 1950, in Piggott, Ark. They later divorced. She then married Henry Rust on Jan. 9, 1966, in Bunker Hill. He preceded her in death in 2007.
She and Henry owned and operated their farm, a backhoe company and several rental properties. She loved gardening, bingo and going to the casino, especially Wendover, Nev., and the Argosy, and visiting family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Banovz of Staunton, Regina "Gina" (Randy) Briskovich of Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Roger (Carrie) Banovz, Jr., of Carterville, Brian (Debra)Banovz of Neoga, Shelia (Karl) Tallman of Bunker Hill, Shawn Garrett of Bunker Hill, Zebadiah "Zeb" Briskovich of Glen Carbon, Sarah Dobrinich of Bethalto; step-granddaughter, Alexandra Rust; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rita (Carl) Casey of Heber City, Utah, Nancy Mills of Annapolis, Mo.; and brother, Dave (Debbie) Barnes of Belleville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dobrinich; four brothers, William "Boy", Ralph, Tim, Tex Barnes; grandson, Joshua Dobrinich; great-granddaughter, Carli Tallman; stepson, Charles Rust; and step-granddaughter, Brittany Rust.
A private graveside service was held at Bunker Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, June 14.
Memorials are suggested to VFW No. 1241 in Staunton. Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton was in charge of arrangements.
