Sharon L. Komnick, 79, of Bethalto, Ill., died at her residence on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. She was born on July 31, 1942, in Wood River, to Osborne "Curly" and Virginia (Melow) Hedges. She married William "Bill" Komnick on Sept. 22, 1962, in Wood River. He survives.
She was co-owner of Village Drive Inn in Bunker Hill from 1980-1989. Sharon was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill and the Altar Guild.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Komnick of Bethalto; children, Teresa (Dan) Durchholz of Elkhart, Scott (Marti) Komnick of Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Allison Bell, Lindsey Tibbs, Rachel Durchholz; great-grandchildren, Jackson Tibbs, Baylor Tibbs, Olivia Bell, Alaina Bell; brother, Randy (Rosalie) Hedges of Phoenix, Ariz .; sister, Cheryl Mertzlufft of Burnt Hills, N.Y .; and sister-in-law, Barbara Hedges. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Gary Hedges.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 7, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill. Burial was at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
