Italian-American Days in Benld

The Benld City Park opens at 4 p.m. this Friday, May 27, when the Italian-American Days celebration returns to Benld.

Connor Family Amusements will be operating the rides and will offer $25 armbands allowing unlimited rides from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m on Sunday.

Music is always on the agenda for your listening and/or dancing pleasure and will be provided by: The Jorrells on Friday, 6:30 - 10:30; Big Shake Daddies on Saturday, 6:30 - 10:30; Original Fat Chance on Sunday:11 a.m. - 2 p.m.; Syner-Gee 2:30 - 6:30; and B& B Strings 6:30- 10:30.

The Benld Italian Club Car Show will be Saturday. Registration is 8 - 11 a.m. with a $15 entry fee. Judging begins at noon, trophies will be awarded. The first 50 entries receive a T-shirt and a dash plaque.

Sunday between 11 a.m and 1:30 p.m. they will be giving away a ton of free spaghetti at the lunch stand. There will be plenty of food throughout the weekend, including Italian specialties. Cannolis will be available in the specialty stand.

There is also a lunch stand for sandwiches and a fish stand serving fish and fries every evening and Bingo will be played every night at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to the Benld City Park May 27 - 29 to the festival known throughout the state for its Italian foods and games.
