After a thorough search, the Staunton Board of Education announced that Brett Allen, Staunton Elementary principal, will be transitioning into the superintendent position starting on July 1.
Allen has been in education for 12 years, serving as a building principal in Staunton for the past eight years. Previously, he was a high school science teacher in Mt. Olive.
Allen states that he is looking forward to continuing his work with the excellent staff members and board of education to continue and improve the mission and vision of the Staunton School District.
“Ensuring that students, staff, and families at Staunton feel welcome, safe, and included within the school community is a top priority,” said Allen. Additionally, a focus on aca- demic achievement and providing a rigorous and preparatory curriculum is a necessity.
Allen states, “Making decisions in the best interest of students and developing a strategic plan that puts academics at the forefront are critical steps as we move forward.”
