Higgins

Charles Raymond Higgins, 70, of Livingston, Ill., originally of Alton, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at his residence. He was born on March 20, 1952, in Alton, the son of Kornethea L. Higgins. He was first married to Gail Kathleen Scheibe. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2003. Chuck then married Bernita (Wood) Lutes on Sept. 17, 2011, in Troy, and she survives.

Chuck worked as a group leader for Olin Manufacturing in East Alton for 42 years. He enjoyed the company of his dog, T-Bone.

He is survived by his wife: Bernita L. Higgins; son, Matthew (Monica) Higgins; daughters, Donita Lutes and Pamela (Matt) Day; grandchildren, Shae (John) Loughman, Sierra Lutes (fiance Colten Haring), Hannah Cunningham (partner Chambray Taylor), Adisyn Cunningham, Rhileigh Day; and great-grandson, Ryder Loughman; brother, Mark (Kay) Cleveland; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna (Bruce) Robinson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; great-great nephews, and great-great nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother; his first wife; and a son, Michael Lutes.

A private graveside service and interment of Chuck's cremains will be held in the Valhalla Memorial Park cemetery in Godfrey.

Lesicko Funeral Home in Livingston was in charge of arrangements.
